Job Description Position Duties: The Ford Global User Experience (UX) Team is a growing team committed to envisioning and creating simple, thoughtful, enjoyable, and compelling product experiences that continually inspire our teams and customers to go further. Our diverse Global UX Team – situated in greater Detroit, Palo Alto, London, Shanghai - is comprised of experience strategists, researchers, interaction designers, visual designers, industrial designers, motion and audio designers, content creators, prototypers, and project managers. Together our team works to understand our changing world, identify new opportunities, and take action to design and innovate for the future of mobility – Ford’s vehicles and surrounding experiences. We are looking for User Experience Designers to join us in designing future holistic experiences (hardware, software and services) for Ford’s future global products. As a UX Designer, you are passionate about human centered design and will apply your design expertise. In collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, you will move from customer research insights to frame new opportunity spaces and define experiences for our future global customers. You will relentlessly advocate a human centric perspective throughout all stages of the design process. As a team player, you will create impact by collaborating across the UX organization and with key work partners throughout the company - product, strategy, marketing, engineering, design, and technology teams. Participate in visioning and conceptual exercises; establishing POV and future state across a spectrum of products and services
Translate complex systems into tangible, simple concepts and demonstrate them through storytelling and rapid prototyping.
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to define user goals and requirements; manage relationships with key stakeholders throughout the enterprise.
Contribute to overall experience strategy and vision, developing sketches, illustrations, mock-ups, prototypes and visual interfaces.
Deliver high-quality designs ranging from innovative concepts, to pixel perfect visual systems.
Contribute to building and evolving tools, processes, best practices and templates / frameworks to continuously improve the human centered design methods and approaches.
Share trends, strategic perspectives, concepts with the Global UX team and key work partners to further develop consumer-centered strategies that align with Ford’s vision, goals, vehicles, services and markets.
Be an active partner in creating a culture of human centered innovation.
Understanding of human-centered design.
Expertise in design methods, processes, tools, and best practices.
Creative problem solving and strong communication skills
Able to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across all aspects of UX design processes.
Strong visual communication skills.
Strong self-direction and sense of responsibility; exhibiting a high-level of professionalism and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Contemporary UI wireframe tools, Maya or similar.
Knowledge of various prototyping tools
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Digital/Media Design, Game Design, or other related design field
3+ years’ experience as visual / graphic designer for digital and/or product (automotive, mobile, web, software, Gaming) coursework allowed).
Proven track record of delivering quality design work in dynamic, diverse, fast paced environments across multiple projects on schedule.
High energy and passion for understanding consumer technology trends, safety, mobile technology enablers, autonomous vehicles, interaction paradigms and convergent experiences.
Portfolio demonstrating qualifications is required.
