Car sales up 13%, best February car sales since 2006

OAKVILLE, Ont., March 1, 2013— Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited sales increased five per cent in February, driven by cars which grew 13 per cent, the best February car sales since 2006. Fiesta, Focus and Fusion, had a positive showing with a seven per cent, seven per cent and 10 per cent increase respectively. F-Series sales rose 10 percent, its best February sales on record.
“Ford of Canada saw solid sales across the board, from the capable F-Series to the dynamic Fiesta,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. “We remain the truck leader with Canada’s favourite pickup, while we continue to prove to Canadians that we are also a strong car company."
CUVs and SUVs experienced a seven per cent increase, driven by Canadian-built Edge with a 20 per cent jump, all-new Escape with a two per cent rise and Explorer with an 18 per cent increase in sales.
Fusion, which saw a sales increase of 10 per cent, led the pack in February car sales. From EcoBoost, to hybrid and plug-in engines, Fusion is a key product that offers customers the power of choice. Its mix of style, smart technology and fuel-economy are resonating with Canadian customers.
Lincoln sales also grew nine per cent in February, driven by Lincoln MKS with a 21 per cent increase, Oakville-built MKX and MKT, with 15 and 172 per cent jump respectively, and Navigator with 53 per cent rise.
