Car sales up 24%, Best January sales in a decade

OAKVILLE, Ont., February 1, 2013— A full lineup of cars, utilities and trucks helped Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited kick off the New Year with an 8 per cent sales increase, marking its best January in 10 years. Car sales helped fuel strong sales with a 24 per cent rise, F-Series sales remained strong with a 10 per cent increase and SUV sales jumped 19 per cent.
"Ford of Canada had a strong 2012, and we are off to a great start this year with sales increases across the entire line up," said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. "With forecasts showing that 2013 could be a record sales year, we see lot of opportunity for sales growth for Ford.”
Transit Connect sales jumped 184 per cent. Escape, Explorer and Expedition also saw sales increases of 24 percent, 2 per cent and 11 per cent, respectively.
The all-new Fusion drove car sales with an 84 per cent increase, which marks its best January on record. The C-MAX Hybrid had its best month since launch, and Taurus sales increased 71 per cent, marking its best January in seven years.
Truck sales also continued to be strong with a 4 per cent increase, including a 5 per cent rise in F-150 sales.
