Ford India Sells 10,634 Vehicles in January


NEW DELHI, India, Feb. 6, 2014 - Beginning the year with sustained growth, Ford India sold 10,634 vehicles in combined domestic wholesale and export sales in January 2014, up 49 percent from 7115 units a year earlier.

Domestic sales for January remained steady at 6,706 units despite challenging market conditions, compared with 6,062 units in January last year. Exports totalled 3,928 units, up from 1,053 units in January 2013.

“Ford has ushered in the New Year on a note of growth and commitment, and our commitment to India is not just business-centric. Through our association with the Jaipur Literature Festival, we are working to inspire and empower children to realise their potential,” said Vinay Piparsania, executive director of Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India. “We’re excited to welcome visitors to our stand at the New Delhi Auto Expo 2014, to let them experience the global products that we are creating to meet and exceed their expectations.”

Ford will unveil a new global concept vehicle at this year’s 12th New Delhi Auto Expo 2014. Based on a global design philosophy, but created to serve the specific needs of consumers in India, the concept will showcase Ford’s vision for the future in the competitive compact-car segment in India and other dynamic emerging markets.

The Ford stand at the Auto Expo has been designed to engage visitors with lively and interactive activities demonstrating Ford’s green, safe and smart technologies. Visitors coming to the event will be greeted by Ford’s full 2014 product line-up for India, with the Ford Figo, Ford Classic, Ford Fiesta and Ford Endeavour alongside the Ford EcoSport, which has garnered more than 18 automotive awards for its design, technology and value for money.

The 12th New Delhi Auto Expo 2014 runs from February 7 to February 11 at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, Delhi NCR.

Going further in its commitment to lay foundations for a better world, Ford India announced in January a roadmap for its “Happy Schools” program – an initiative aimed at democratising access to holistic education – at the recent 2014 Jaipur Literature Festival.
