We live in a smart world – smartphones, smart homes, smart watches.
Isn’t it about time driving got smart, too?
At Ford, changing how you travel is an everyday endeavor. Our CEO, Mark Fields, says it best:
“Our goal is to make people’s lives better by helping them more easily navigate through their day, address societal issues and, over time, change the way the world moves – just as Henry Ford did more than 100 years ago.”
That’s not just talk.
Last year, we unveiled the Ford Smart Mobility plan. That’s right, “mobility” – as in, not only how people drive, but how they literally move in cities around the world, whether by bike, bus, train, taxi or other means.
Our plan is designed to become the leader in in connectivity, mobility, autonomous vehicles, the customer experience, and data and analytics.
Yes, it’s about advancing vehicle technology, but it’s just as much about helping change the way the world moves by seeking smart solutions to the most pressing transportation problems around the globe.
First, we’ve done our homework, conducting more than 25 experiments around the world – all aimed at better understanding how consumers are changing.
In June 2015, we started to put Ford Smart Mobility in action.
Pilot programs were kicked off, giving customers access to new mobility services. One offered peer-to-peer car sharing – helping drivers offset the monthly costs of vehicle ownership by renting out their car. Another was a full-fledged car-sharing service in London, called GoDrive, that offers a selection of cars for on-demand, pay-by-the-minute use by urbanites in need of getting around town.
And it doesn’t stop there. The innovations keep rolling, and we can’t wait to tell you about them. Check this space often, because it’s important you stay in the loop as we explore new technology and look for innovative solutions that will reshape how the world moves.
So take a seat, and buckle up. We’re glad you’re along for the ride.
